Park condition standards are foundational for many planning, maintenance, and operational decisions for park and recreation facilities. A well written standard defines an end goal and understandable and actionable descriptions of the acceptable state when any action is complete is instrumental to success, whether specifying a project, planning trash pickup or annual budgeting for a new accessible trail in your local forest or park. Park Standards are a primary step in any maintenance management system.

Frank Spaulding, Parks Projects Manager, Vermont State Parks
For the past 27 years Frank has been the Project Manager for Vermont State Parks overseeing capital construction planning, programming, budgeting, design, permitting and construction. For 14 years he served on the Board of Regents for the NRPA/NC State, Parks and Recreation Maintenance Management School. His experience has focused on communicating desired programmatic and physical outcomes for 100’s of park projects. This session will focus on that last aspect of that work.
