We hire professionals to draw plans and then ask a committee, group, volunteer commission, to review and provide feedback. If those groups are unable to properly interpret those plans, then informed feedback will be limited or non-existent. Understanding basic skills of plan reading will make everyone a participant in the process. Through the use of real plans, This session will provide hands-on learning how to read typical construction plans.

How plans are structured with tips and tricks for reviewing plans and providing constructive feedback
Understanding and using drawing scale, and drawing stations to understand proposed dimensions.
Navigate different drawing views, connect drawing perspectives, link details, cross sections and profiles.

Frank Spaulding, Parks Projects Manager, Vermont State Parks
For the past 27 years Frank has been the Project Manager for Vermont State Parks overseeing capital construction planning, programming, budgeting, design, permitting and construction. For 14 years he served on the Board of Regents for the NRPA/NC State, Parks and Recreation Maintenance Management School. His experience has provided him the chance to read and review plans for 100’s of park projects. This session will focus on that last aspect of that work.
