(#27) Stronger Together: Free Resources for Inclusive Recreation

Parks and recreation professionals are key to creating inclusive community spaces. This session highlights Move United’s free educational resources and how they can support inclusive programming in the community, including tennis, volleyball, swimming, track & field, cycling, hiking, and much more. Participants will also explore opportunities to partner with adaptive sport organizations to strengthen their programs. Through this crash course, attendees will gain actionable strategies and tools to increase access and participation for individuals with disabilities across Vermont communities.

  2. Explore partnership opportunities with adaptive sport organizations

  3. Apply strategies to expand inclusive programming and community engagement

Presenters:

Cayla Hammaker, Senior Education Manager, Move United

Cayla joined Move United in 2018 and has since played a key role in advancing the organization’s mission through the expansion of its educational resources. She contributes to the development of training resources, professional development opportunities, and tools that support a rapidly growing national network of adaptive sports providers. Her work reflects Move United’s significant evolution over the past decade, strengthening access to high-quality education and training across the field. With a background in adaptive sports and exercise and movement science, she brings a thoughtful, insight-driven perspective shaped by ongoing analysis, collaboration, and engagement across the field.

Felicia Fowler, Program Director, Vermont Adaptive Ski & Sports

Felicia assumed the role of Program Director with Vermont Adaptive Ski & Sports in late 2024 ater being program manager since the summer of 2022. Prior to that, she was the Program Coordinator for Sugarbush and Central Vermont programs for four years. She holds a Master’s in Therapeutic Recreation Administration from UNH as well as a Bachelor’s in Recreation Management & Policy. Prior to completing her master’s degree, she interned with the Adaptive Sports Center in Crested Butte, Colorado. Her areas of expertise include adaptive sports & recreation, youth programming, camp programming, event planning, mountain biking and snowboarding.
